Pink Star is a highly valuable and rare pink diamond. It weighs 59.6 carats and is considered the largest internally flawless, fancy vivid pink diamond ever graded by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). It was mined in South Africa in 1999 and was originally known as the Steinmetz Pink. In 2017, the Pink Star was sold at auction in Hong Kong for a record-breaking price of $71.2 million, making it the most expensive gemstone ever sold at auction. The buyer was Hong Kong-based jeweler Chow Tai Fook. The Pink Star is considered one of the world's most prestigious and valuable diamonds.
